
For this episode of the JamDad Podcast, we’re steering the ship toward something bright, complex, and incredibly refreshing. Our featured drink of the week is the Polaris—an elegant gin-based cocktail balanced with fresh lemon and grapefruit juice, a touch of floral elderflower liqueur, and a smooth float of brandy or cognac right on top (we used Copper & Kings brandy for our batch). It’s the perfect, sophisticated sipper to handle some late-night gear talk and our usual unscripted laughs.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Gin
- 1 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 oz St-Germain (Elderflower Liqueur)
- 1/4 oz Fresh grapefruit juice
- 1/4 oz Brandy or Cognac (for the float)
- Lemon or grapefruit twist for garnish
Instructions: Combine the gin, fresh lemon juice, elderflower liqueur, and grapefruit juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until well-chilled, then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Gently float the brandy or cognac over the back of a bar spoon onto the top of the drink. Garnish with a citrus twist and enjoy.
