
For this episode of the JamDad Podcast, we’re throwing it back to a classic Suffering Bastard recipe originally whipped up in 1942 as a killer hangover cure. Our featured drink of the week is the Suffering Bastard—a unique, bubbly highball that surprisingly features both bourbon and gin. It’s the perfect backdrop for some late-night gear talk and unscripted laughs.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Bourbon
- 1 oz Gin
- 0.5 oz Fresh lime juice
- 1-2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Ginger beer to top
- Mint sprig or lime wheel for garnish
Instructions: Combine the bourbon, gin, fresh lime juice, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well until chilled, then strain the entire mixture (ice included, if you like!) into a tall glass or mug. Top it off with a cold ginger beer, give it a quick stir, and garnish with fresh mint.
